How To: The perfect period-kit for hiking
For those of us who aren’t as experienced with menstrual cups or don’t feel comfortable using them, this period-kit ensures you’re prepared and leave no trace behind when you’re backpacking or camping on your period!
You’ll need a clean bag for your unused pads and tampons a waste bag for your used items. (Remember, applicator-free tampons help reduce waste!)
For your main bag, start with an opaque, ultralight 4-liter to 8-liter roll-top stuff sack or dry bag. Then, add the following:
Travel size hand sanitizer
Premoistened wipes to last your trip
Soap to wash your hands and underwear
If the next trash can is nowhere in sight or it isn’t bear-protected, carrying your used products is your best option. Add the following for your waste bag:
