Our picks for best hiking sunscreens
Sun damage is no joke! In fact, skin cancer is THE leading cancer amongst younger folks. We encourage all things sunshine and outside but only if you protect that lovely face (and body, hands, you get it).
Everyone from young and old should be using sunscreen every day both in the summer and even in our winters, especially in SoCal!
Protecting your skin from the sun has become as important as washing and moisturizing it. A clean, protected face helps keep blemishes or burns at bay - which can be painful.
We also need to be mindful of animal testing, not-so-friendly ingredients - to both our skin and our world - plus we always love a deal here 😉
Here are a few #LadyHiker-approved wallet and environmental-friendly sunscreens.
Sun Bum yells out that “sun and beachy days straight ahead!” This cute little lady contains a soft and creamy sunscreen your skin will be grateful for each time you apply! The best part, it’s water resistant. What I love the most is it’s delicious cocoa smell…This one in particular is enriched with aloe vera and Vitamin E. Sun Bum also have four different lines that include sunscreens without fragrance and tanning lotions!
Alba Botanica has a nice variety of facial-care products that definitely include sunscreen and lip balms with all SPF-levels. And for all my dreamy wahines who adore the islands, this particular green tea and certified cruelty-free sunscreen smells just like Hawaii! It is also water-resistant and assures it won’t damage the coral reefs! Next time you plan on snorkeling, you can do so guilt-free.
If it easier to re-apply your sunscreen with one hand during the hike or while on the go, you might want to consider a sunscreen that delivers directly to your skin. This particular sunscreen spray from The Honest. Co. is mineral-based if you prefer to opt out from the Zinc Oxide ingredients.
Looking for more natural options? Coola carries a variety of plant-sourced sunscreens that are also enriched with antioxidants! This 100 percent organic sunscreen spray can be easily carried in your pocket. Plus, if you’re traveling abroad, it’s size complies with TSA’s standards. I personally love taking this one with me when I fly back to the Bay to visit my friends, as it dries out real quick and doesn’t make me feel oily!
Which are some of your favorite sunscreens and what do you like most about them? We’d love to know! I’m always looking to up my game in skincare!
