Digital tools for the travel road
If it isn’t on the gram, it didn’t happen.
Kidding, kidding, nature is supposed to be a space and place for us to detox. But, admit it, you don’t...at least not the whole time.
I’m very lucky to be a #remotelife having creative so I do need to snap, record and edit content out and about. And judging from all of our amazing user-generated hiking shares on said ‘gram, y’all do like to take nice photos and video when presented with wonderful nature IRL. I do however kick it old school with my Nikon DSLR in addition to the standard smart phone.
When I was in Big Sur, I made the newbie error of not unloading my SD card before hitting the open road. And, as you can imagine I didn’t have enough space for all that amazingness. As a hobby nature photographer that just gets lost in that world, I had to make heart-wrenching cuts in the quest for perfection. I vowed never again!
Many moons later, I got to test out a power crew of items any photographer/videographer should add to their digital travel essentials. The fine folks at Western Digital sent me a few things to try and I’m HOOKED on these:
Portable storage with Western Digital’s My Passport Go
There is no possible way I can fit all of my unedited content on the road without My Passport Go. It comes in a few cute colors and auto-backup but the best part is the durability. This stuff is built to last; dropping your bag, smashed into crowded vehicles, you name it. Your precious media ain’t going nowhere.
SanDisk Extreme Pro® HD SD card
Never again will have to delete on the go because my storage is depleted, so much space!!! Plus, the quality on these SD cards outpaces any other ones I’ve used before. Check out the incredible stills from my very first Yosemite excursion. The quality is incredible and just like the Passport, its built tuff. This tiny guy is temperature-proof, waterproof, shock-proof and X-ray proof. Pair that with their card reader and so vivid. I’m still working my way through my maps, notes and photos from this trip. I can tell you
